We have advertised it online on RV Trader, the Tiffin website and Craig's List in Portland, San Francisco and Tampa, Florida. The response has been slow and we have reduced our selling price.
More interest has resulted from the For Sale notices in the windows of the motor home itself. One man followed us down a highway and into a shopping centre to make further enquiries. Of course we have had a lot of enquiries from RV dealers and we had come to the view that if all else fails then that is our fall back position. ( Friends in California have kindly offered to store her for us but that only postpones the selling exercise with the added costs of returning soon to the US.)
However over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of interest. A guy in Texas - El Paso - has made a firm offer conditional on him being happy with her when he sees and drives her. He is flying to San Francisco on Friday afternoon. We will arrange to be parked up somewhere close by so that he can have a good look and a drive, then - all things going to plan - he will drive her back to El Paso, about 1200 miles. Of course we are a bit nervous about the money exchange. We now fully appreciate how the previous owner felt when he sold her to us, and we have laughed with him after the deal was done. But it is real and we will be careful.
If the sale doesn't go through we have several prospective purchasers in the wings; a couple have offered more than we are selling her for. We are happy with the price though and an in principle agreement has been reached. We got a good deal, have had so much fun in her and someone will now get a good deal too. Equally important she will go to a good home. The guy who is coming out on Friday owns an older Tiffin; he and his wife love Tiffins; they are looking forward to updating to our model with all the neat things it has to offer.
And does she look good!! Today she had a wash at a truck wash and is sparkling!! Hopefully the weather forecast stays true and there is no rain this week. Trevor has already washed off the bugs from this afternoon!!
So think of 2 forlorn and homeless souls standing on the side of the road on Friday watching as she drives off to a new home!!
Our 'other' vehicle has reached LA awaiting a boat. It is likely the trike will leave LA at about the same time we leave San Francisco. Our shipping agent sent some photos from the depot at LA which - hopefully -will save a few sleepless nights ...
We are now in California having left Oregon on Saturday.
After all the stormy weather we experienced the weekend before, we finally see the sun about midweek.
We backtrack a bit, to Netarts Bay on the coast in northern Oregon where the Rossknect family are spending a week together to celebrate their mom, Margaret's birthday.
It is wonderful to see them all again ... great people. We spend a day visiting with them (including several hours working on really difficult puzzles). A wonderful way to start the wind up of our journey.
And I find a home for my magic coffee pot which truly pleases me.
We also find some interesting highways to take; definitely off the beaten track for an RV. I am sure it is a pink line on the map but it may
be grey?
The views are great and little traffic.
A foggy morning leaving the coast. |
